Ask Dr. Kaiser Question: I have been HIV for over 20 years...and finally had to take medication. I purchased your book Healing HIV and attended one of your seminars in San Francisco and was convinced to start K-PAX. I decided to get a parasite testing and tested for the parasite Blastocystis hominus and its cysts. I took Flagyl for 10 days and it did not work. Now I plan to take a holistic approached with ParaGone-Psyllium and I was hoping you could give me feed back whether I should add Humatin or Iodoquinol with my approach?Your support is greatly appreciated. Thank you, Alberto Dr. Kaiser replies: Alberto, You ask an excellent question that is relevant to many other people both with and without HIV. The treatment of parasites with Flagyl is often unsuccessful due to the resistance many parasites have developed to this medication over time. Taking only a natural treatment is also very likely to be unsuccessful. Your best bet is a combination approach with Humatin 250 mg two capsules 3X/day PLUS Iodoquinol 650 mg one capsule 3X/day for the first fourteen days followed by a second fourteen days of Iodoquinol three times per day by itself. You should also take the ParaGone-Psyllium combination with the above medication program for the full twenty-eight days. Both during and after the above, take two months of high dose acidophilus supplementation. This may sound like a lot to take but it is all necessary to clear Blastocystis which is a very persistent parasite that often does not want to leave. As always, you need to retest to make sure that the treatment was successful. Good luck! Check out our Message Board! |
